Sumerian Worshipper Kur-lil - British Museum

Writer's picture: Ryan MoorhenRyan Moorhen

The inscription has been read as Kurlil; presumably the same Kurlil who was an official in the city of Uruk and who was responsible for some of the construction work at Tell al-'Ubaid. Marchetti 2011 refer to the material as dacite but scientific analysis indicates material to be so-called greenstone of altered intermediate/basic volcanic rock origin. It has been incorrectly referred to as limestone elsewhere.
