WESTERN ASIATIC AKKADIAN CYLINDER SEAL WITH GOD ENLIL Akkadian, 23rd-22nd century BC

A limestone cylinder seal with frieze depicting the god Enlil seated in a barque with water emitting from his shoulders, robed figures with horned headdresses, one with fronds stepping on a dog, one kneeling with a standard, two with raised hands. 35 grams, 32mm (1 1/4").

Condition Very fine condition.

Provenance Property of a London gentleman; previously in the M. Cloake collection, acquired in 1977; formerly with Cohen Antiques, London W8.
