WESTERN ASIATIC ACHAEMENID CYLINDER SEAL WITH COMBAT SCENE 5th century BC

An agate cylinder seal with frieze depicting a winged lion with standing male figure in kilt and headdress thrusting spear into chest, smaller male figure to the front; behind the lion another male figure in kilt holding the tail and resting foot on back leg of lion. 12 grams, 28mm (1 1/4").

Condition Very fine condition.

Provenance From an important private London collection; formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
