Dido

A silver tetradrachm from Carthage. The female head has been identified by some historians as Dido (Elissa), the legendary founder of the city. She wears a Phrygian cap while the reverse side shows a lion, palm tree and the legend 'mmhnt' - 'of the people of the army'. From Sicily, 4th century BCE. (The British Museum, London)
